Mauritius’s Prime Minister, Pravind Jugnauth, stated that his political alliance, L’Alliance Lepep, faced a major defeat in the recent parliamentary election. Despite his efforts, the population opted for a new team. The election featured 68 parties and five alliances vying for parliament’s 62 seats.
The incumbent Prime Minister acknowledged his alliance’s significant loss following Sunday’s parliamentary election.
“L’Alliance Lepep is headed for a major defeat. I have done what I can for the country, but the people have chosen a different team. I wish the country good luck,” Jugnauth told reporters. Voters turned out in large numbers.
